I thought some of you might be interested in this:

I know you all *hate* reading the Times Online because you have to register and log in but this one is 10 pages long so I can’t post it. And it’s worth it.

A reporter for the New York Times has been lying, blatantly, in articles over four years. He resigned on May 1 after an investigation. He said he was outside Jessica Lynch’s parents’ house in Virginia when he was still in New York. He stole from other newspapers. He made up interviews with generals. He based descriptions of places on details of photos. Editors warned about his veracity years before and bar a warning, nothing happened. The Times is reeling. The project to trace all of his errors and correct the record is enormous.

As a journalist and a teacher of journalism, I find this amazing and outrageous. Not that he did it, but that he was able to last for FOUR YEARS.
