So, here I was planning to spend the evening working and then I made the mistake of catching up on LJ… there went a few hours.

I had a job interview with Lonely Planet today which went quite well, I think. It doesn’t pay all that well, but it’d be good work.

Back home, somewhat drained. I made a bit of a fool of myself with a very cute Canadian guy who makes this awesome TV/Web series called Rock Camp. Oops.

Reading thesis stuff this afternoon was good. I like Linnell Secomb’s ideas of fractured community. Will be starting my thesis posts again soon.

I forgot to mention the other day that one of the things that was good about the movie Cherish was that one of the characters was a Jewish gay guy in a wheelchair, and it had a scene where they discussed that explicitly, so I can use that in the thesis.

Let’s see: what else? Oh yeah, Rolf de Heer gave a talk at x|media|lab and was amazing. Very funny and self-effacing. It was so good to be able to thank him for Alexandra’s Project.

Plus I checked out the Tracey Moffat exhibition at the MCA. Some beautiful pieces, haunting and distressing reflections on the moments of childhood in which a cutting phrase shatters the fragility of self, gorgeous portraits of men in their prime, strong backs and curved limbs stretched, daring pieces hinting at narrative and the possibility of escape, a forest full of potential and a woman braving raven-wings. Stunning much.

Also, enjoyed catching up with Mark Pesce and some of the other people again. Mark is now in Sydney till July apparently, teaching at AFTRS and Rach and Jeremy might be coming to town soon and I could get to meet baby Claire. Neat!
