Read this art­icle by Pamela Bone about the treat­ment of women in Pakistan. I don’t agree with her con­clu­sion that “Amer­ica is not the enemy” but I cer­tainly agree that too great a focus on the US means that inter­na­tional pro­test­ers are left without suf­fi­cient resources to bring inter­na­tional pres­sure to bear on fixing some of the other key issues in the world.

It revolts me when the US claims they “toppled the Taliban” and some­how deserve praise for it. They had many years in which they could have done that, years in which women were dying, being sys­tem­at­ic­ally tor­tured, raped and killed.
