Another “what I did on my holidays” post.

I’ve had quite a week. During the days, I’ve been working on my thesis and marking student assignments. During the evenings, I’ve been swanning around with a dashing young barrister. Lots of fun.

Friday night I caught up with hawk_eye and matoko and then went to Zanzibar upstairs to meet Justine, had a great chat, as usual ranging over a variety of topics. The shock of the night was a discussion about shared Jewish heritage. I’d never really considered Justine Jewish… she wasn’t brought up Jewish and when we were teenagers, it never really came up. Anyhow, she recently went to a communal seder, and it brought up a lot of stuff. So, my first girlfriend was a good Jewish girl after all. Sorry, raven_, you’re no longer my only Jewish ex.

Then back to turtlesnake’s place for sleeping with some chatting thrown in.

Saturday morning all headed to Cinque for eggs benedict, met up with hawk_eye and matoko again, were joined by sophronia, everybody and their dog called to ask where I was and before I knew it I was holding court. It was really good. Dean and Naomi dropped in, and predat0r and Mark Pesce had conversations about proteins and information and DNA that were a few stratospheres over my head but was fascinating. Mark also kindly read/skimmed my thesis draft and made comments for which I am intensely grateful. Then pred and I went off to Glebe markets where I bumped into Roger, Sharon and Mim and then went to have coffee with msservalan, timling and rob. That was interesting because apart from the neat conversation about how we could wrap performers in blue rope and chromakey them so they were wearing fire rope, it was the first time I’ve been at a table with two trios.Having been part of a trio in the past myself, it felt very natural to have these two relationships there. A glimpse into a different world.

Back to Naomi’s for the most amazing home cooked quiche ever and then more fun. Today was my grandfather’s 90th and my grandparents’ 65th wedding anniversary. Very quiet by comparison.

Back in Melbourne tomorrow. 3000 thank yous to hermia8 and thunderchylde for looking after Jezebel.
