Have cut up the thesis, pasted it back together, pasted in bits and quotes from all over the place, it’s all a bit crazy…
But the word count is encouraging, even if it does include stuff I can’t really count, like notes to myself to rewrite sections…
At this point, it’s a matter of going through and expanding the bits that need expanding then going through again and getting rid of the bits that are interesting but not quite on topic, tightening sentences and so on.
I’m trying to decide whether to include something on flash mobs, because it seems like the natural extension of my theories of transitory partial communities but has nothing to do with my edge identities (sexuality/ethnicity intersections) and I have to elaborate my little insight last week about televisual audiences and Web audiences and the different constructions of ‘recognition’ within those receptions.
Hmmm… so, still a mess, but a happier mess, 6 weeks to go.
