I had an unbelievably awesome night out with sleazemonkey, steampunk and astro_dust. It started out less than stellar with the play “Next Year’s Sluts” (sorry sabbitha). It was Thelma and Louise meets Baise Moi meets The Breakfast Club, and I think it’s telling when the crew is laughing louder than the audience. There were some great lines and some impressive performances, but the plotting was a tad predictable and in the end I found it somewhat dull.

However, after that Jack, Sean and I went for great Chinese (the food was just decent but the antics of the Maitre D’ were hysterical), and then we went back to the Builder’s Arms for Q&A (Queer & Alternative). Good crowd, great music and lots of dancing.

The music was so much fun: there was the tacky 80s stuff I remember so well, Chequered Love and Blondie and Push It, and there was Lust for Life and Nevermind and Polyester Girl and just a crazy variety of rock and silliness. I got to see steampunk doing Morris Dancing to Black Betty, so now I’ve seen everything, and there was dirty dancing to the White Stripes, and flirting and flirting and flirting and a 180cm tall woman who was stunning and danced like heaven.

More please.
