So, it’s a little over a week until my birthday and fizit’s birthday (January 22). (kitling is January 23, for those who’ve forgotten this triumvirate of delectable devilry).
Some of you probably know that I’m a weird political eater: I’m not a vegetarian, I’m not even a pesce-vegetarian (fish and veg eater). I eat wild stuff and indigenous stuff. I won’t go into it in detail. Suffice to say Jess and I came up with a plan a while ago for a birthday dinner of indigenous fare – kangaroo steaks, wallaby medallions, possum osso bucco and bush vegetables galore. So, we’re heading for Flamin’ Bull, 121 Lygon St, Carlton, Vic (menu at the web site; it’s not cheap but it’s damn good). From memory, there are a couple of vego dishes they do (the site says there’s a ‘vegetarian special of the day’), but tell me in advance if you’re vegetarian and I’ll ask them for a couple of special dishes if we have a critical mass.
Even if you don’t know any of us well, feel free to RSVP and show up. I’m happy for this to be a very big outing where I get to meet new friends too. I’ll probably invite a smaller group back to mine for afters so the dinner is the big public thang. I do need numbers though, so reply here or mail me…
