I am by no means well, at least not for any definition of ‘well’ that excludes excruciating agony in the gums, but I am still fever-free and tonsils are almost a normal colour. Back to the doctor tomorrow night for a check on these gums, but otherwise I’m recommencing my life damnit.
Thanks to those who rescued me: sleazemonkey as always, though I’m worried about you today, couldn’t raise you on the phone, kirmish, thorfinn and Stephan for car trips to various doctors at different times, thorfinn for more congee than one woman can possibly eat, lordstorm for random visits and planned visits and generally being wonderful, daisynerd, nuwishas_tail and seedy_girl for being a voice on the end of a phone, greenwytch for naturopathic advice, drjon, isisrose and orethule and all you overseas people for offers of company or assistance even if the timing was wrong. Oh and Mum, of course, for phone calls and e‑mails and offers to fly interstate if I still wasn’t well by this weekend. If I missed anyone, sorry.
So, work tomorrow on the new travel magazine. Two days late, which is a Bad Thing, given my reputation for organisation and a sign of how seriously sick I was. I’ve done all the prep and commissioning, articles are rolling in, and production was supposed to start Monday. That means I had to phone and put three other staff on hold for two days while everyone waited for me, because this is the launch issue, so no-one knows each other and no one has work to go on with from last issue. It’s all a very interesting experience and one I’m sure will end up as fodder for classes, so pay attention, oh students of mine.
More importantly, I have to scramble to see all the remaining Oscars nominees by the Big Night. So, I’m going to be seeing a lot of film soon. I’ll try to post the schedule here as I go…
And the nominees are:

Note that this list does not include any of the sound categories, shorts categories, documentary categories or the foreign language categories (I normally do try to see the foreign language films but I don’t have time this time)(Oh and I have of course already seen the amazingly fabulous Birthday Boy and who needs to see the others, really?)(I find it a little sad that the only complete category I’ve already seen is the visual effects category).
Wanna come see a film with me? I was thinking maybe Finding Neverland tomorrow night…
