Great film. It’s unusual to see an action film set in Israel, and see a different side of Israel in some ways. I wouldn’t say I watch a lot of Israeli films but I certainly see a few, so it’s not completely alien to me, but the ones I watch are usually political films, not general mainstream release films. The film itself has a bunch of logical holes in it, but it’s well acted, sensitively done, has some really interesting lines (from the tough Mossad agent: “Help, I’m stuck with a pseudo-liberal who wants to talk about bomber’s motives’), the lead actors are very pleasant to look at, as is one of the suppporting female Mossad agents.

There are some curly ethical and emotional questions posed here and I think the pace was excellent. The plot is essentially that a Mossad agent is assigned to befriend two Germans in Israel whose grandfather is a Nazi war criminal. Once things get going though it’s all a little convenient how the coincidences keep piling up nicely and everyone is very happy to be gullible and not question the surprising explanations. I didn’t really notice most of that at the time, though. Suspend disbelief and this film is really challenging and at times tender.
