Marathon

I’m done mark­ing my stu­dents’ Assign­ment 2. I don’t remem­ber it being this much of an effort last year. Then again a) I didn’t have 50 of them last year and b) I wasn’t trying to race against time because of having had a motor­bike acci­dent and delay­ing everything by a week.

Anyhow.

The stats:
50 assign­ments marked.
100,000+ words read
16,298 words writ­ten in response. (Yup. Ser­i­ously. Some of these are boil­er­plate para­graphs I cut and paste from a file, but this count is NOT includ­ing the words in the com­ments on the assign­ments themselves.)

I still have one to go, assum­ing the stu­dent in ques­tion sub­mits his assign­ment… but the rest are being e‑mailed back tonight. 

Then, of course, the poor bas­tards hand me 50 ver­sions of Assign­ment 3 on Monday and I have to mark all of those by bloody end of month so they don’t get with­helds on their transcripts.

You know, I don’t get paid nearly enough for this.
