Mmm… so pretty! A magical fairy tale, almost exactly what I would have expected a Dave McKean world come to life to look like. Some lovely moments, dreamspaces and creepy creatures. Some great lines – well, what do you expect, with Mr Gaiman penning the tale? I loved the soundtrack, all circus music and minor notes bowed on circus fiddles. There are some moments where I definitely had to suspend my adult self and just revel in my inner 13-year-old but that’s fine, magical in itself. And I can only imagine how wonderful this would be for those 13-year-old girls-who-are-as-I-was, a yellow-orange world to step into at dusk and become a hero in your own imagination…

It reminds me also of two glorious paintings I saw yesterday by Sioux Dollman at the gallery Zak Gelfand invited me to. One was on gold foil, an African woman reclining, her back to the viewer, her body covered in swirls of orange and white and yellow, lying as if on a bed of flame; the other on silver foil, a Celtic sea sprite on her back, with her blue and green hair cascading beneath her, her body covered in curlicues of white like ocean foam.

And now I must rush off and work on ariel flux so that I can start to put interviews and profiles of people like these onto the site!
