A weekend away is really just too brief, isn’t it?

Spent today wandering around wineries and fromageries on Brian’s request and everyone’s general agreement. I would have liked some more rainforest and a little more ocean or stream, but there’s many other opportunities for that and oh my, I have some nice wines and cheeses as a result.

I’ll post photos shortly… (and then edit this post probably…) Let’s see, what did I leave out of yesterday’s musing? Naomi and I saw a wombat in Cradle Mountain National Park… huge thing, just lumbering up the hill… and I saw a tiny little green snake.

We stayed at Eagle’s Nest Retreat, which I reviewed for Unique Traveller… After watching bits of the sunrise lazily from bed, got up this morning for an outdoor spa… did some yoga with Naomi on the patio in the sun in view of Mount Roland and then cooked everyone a vintage cheese and sweet chilli omelette… We went to Tazmazia this morning, which sounded better than it was. It looked like it was going to be a maze of lavender…

I’m glad I managed to miss this Melbourne heat. It’s 45 down here, but Tassie was around 25 and just perfect. Birthday dinner was seafood laksa and thai banana with palm sugar from one of my favourite restaurants and in the end, thanks to the heat, just sitting at home watching Carnivale and talking on the phone with an old friend from Sydney.

I’m very, very lucky…
