Films to watch

Just saw Syr­i­ana. Amaz­ing. If you have any interest in the middle east, the US inter­fer­ence in for­eign policy, the polit­ics of oil, see it. Don’t have time for a full review because this is my third late night in as many nights.

I’m deeply impressed with the latest crop of polit­ical films and qual­ity films with com­plex storylines, intel­li­gent scripts and chal­lenges to the status quo. In par­tic­u­lar, I’d recom­mend seeing Crash, deal­ing with racism in con­tem­por­ary Amer­ica; Syr­i­ana, deal­ing with US inter­fer­ence in the middle east, cor­por­ate cor­rup­tion and gov­ern­ment col­lu­sion; and Con­stant Gardener, deal­ing with devel­op­ment, aid and mul­tina­tional pharmaceuticals.
