You know, I’ve just realised something very sad.
Only 40,000 people showed for the Sydney IR rally. in 1988, as part of the Secondary Students Coalition, four other high school students and I (with some help from the Teachers’ Federation of NSW) got 100,000 people out against a statewide change that only affected Year 11 and 12 students.
These laws affect every working adult in the country.
Whatever happened to people’s commitment?
EDIT: This is not a personal comment on the attendance or otherwise of anyone reading. It is a discussion about general attendance. There are always people who can’t attend because they’re sick/they slept through their alarm/their job is absolutely critical.
