I spent my first Amer­ican thanks­giv­ing in

‘s house and was treated with gluten-free homemade delights and I baked gluten-free chocol­ate cup­cakes. The next night we had an all-nighter and I tracked the biggest change in our polit­ical landscape.

I am thank­ful for so many things.

• Julia Gil­lard is our first female deputy PM!
• Peter Gar­rett is going to be Min­is­ter for Cli­mate Change!
• Friends and good conversations.
• Life and health
• My amaz­ing partner.
• Snug­gling under the covers late in the morn­ing while the rain falls onto the Texan roof.

I’m sure there’ll be more. I’m being hur­ried to go eat.

EDIT: We got as far as Sonora and dis­covered the roads are closed because of snow fur­ther on. This could get interesting…
