Last night we discovered ourselves with unexpected free time, so I proposed we go check out a second-hand car I’d been eyeing off online – a little red 1995 Peugeot 306. Called the guy whose house it was at… sure, we could come over. It’s his daughter’s car but he works for GM so he’s doing the selling. Despite the pouring rain when we get there, the car seems smooth and lovely, it’s got a couple of scratches but nothing major, it’s a hatchback, and most importantly, Choice says it’s got some of the best crash protection out there in the used car market. It doesn’t show up anywhere on Choice’s reliability list but the guy has the full service history and it looks like it’s had a fair bit replaced recently, so we shouldn’t have to do major maintenance for a while. Plus, it’s in our price range… so, we’ve put a deposit on it.

Now to sell the van – which apparently wouldn’t pass a roadworthy. Not good…

But yay for little red car!
