While we were in Sydney, we were generously gifted with even more amazing things for Harper. The list so far of all the gifts (and stuff we’ve got ourselves, which is minor in comparison to the gift list) is below. The post outlining ideas for outlets and restrictions for gifts due to allergies/politics is here.

We have bought/been given/got from freecycle:

A couple of size 0000 clothes
Quite a few size 000 clothes
Lots and lots of size 00 clothes
Baby socks
Three baby hats
A wooden cot
Cot sheets
Cot blankets
Bath towel & washer
Bath lotions and potions (gift set)
Hug-a-bub carry sling
Brightly coloured cloth playmat
Cloth mobile
Car seat
A couple of baby books
Wooden change table (needs fixing)
A carry bag
Plastic baby bath insert thing
Padded baby rocker
Avent steriliser
Some bottles and dummies

We need (list partly for our own benefit):

Nappies (Prefer bamboo for new fitted or flat, still working on what’s best, cotton is fine for second-hand)
Bamboo or organic cotton cloth squares for burp cloths etc
Bunny rugs – my understanding is that these are cotton or bamboo wraps for swaddling/wrapping baby
Cot mattress (donations already received, buying this soon)
Nappy service (Eep! The one we were planning to use has folded… no pun intended)
Cotton mat & cover for change table
Nappy buckets with lids
Mattress protector for cot (pref. organic cotton/non-plastic)
Breast pump
Blender (for easy food prep, ours is broken)

Other ideas:

Educational toys/flash cards for smart babies
Those fancy portable change table things

Stores to try for nifty natural stuff:

Fairground Child (fair trade store in North Carlton, Melbourne)
EcoChild
Nature’s Child
EcoBabe
My Heart Beats Green (carbon-neutral organic cotton, found these guys at Woodford)
Sahara Bloom (bamboo stuff, found these guys at Glebe Fair in Sydney)

Those of you who have kids: is there anything really obvious we’re missing?
