I can’t believe Howard is saying further drafts of the terror legislation will be sent on paper to premiers to avoid further leakage.
Don’t you trust us, Mr Howard? Worried we might actually see something and disagree with it? Weren’t you supposed to be representing us? Isn’t that what “representative democracy” is all about? I’ve never actually liked representative democracy for precisely this reason: representatives are not accountable after election. Bring on participatory democracy! Delegates not representatives, federalism or mutualism not this pathetic excuse for government.
Oh, and yet again – I probably couldn’t say this after the anti-terror legislation is passed: dissent and criticism of the government will be a crime with a seven-year sentence attached.
