I read this yes­ter­day on caval­orn’s LJ, who was repeat­ing it from net­goth:

I was just linked to this post about a viol­ent attack per­pet­rated during Con­ver­gence 12 in NOLA. If anyone has any inform­a­tion about this jack­ass, please con­tact the New Orleans Police Depart­ment at (504) 658‑6080.

Also, please spread this link any­where and every­where you can so that he is found and brought to justice for this cow­ardly attack.

Please, please, pass these links along as fast as you can and as far as you can. This has been con­firmed by sev­eral net.goths who were at Con­ver­gence. This is not a bogus posting.

Apart from abhor­ring the viol­ence of this par­tic­u­lar guy, what I’m inter­ested in is the response of the net​.com​munity… and I find myself want­ing to follow the story and hoping the guy will be caught because some net­izen spot­ted him so I can write a good news story about the net for a change.

I feel this is quite vul­ture-like… but journalism/social anthro­po­logy is always about this in some way. I’m inter­ested in whether this ends up a witch-hunt, what it means for ‘inno­cent until proven guilty’, what eye-wit­ness means when we do not have the words of the third party wit­ness here or links to ‘offi­cial’ reports.

Mean­while, more sui­cide bomb­ings in Israel, because that will achieve peace…NOT… and viol­ence in the Solomons and… and… *sigh*
