Doug was trying to make Aperture jump through hoops the other day and decided the business needed a faster machine. He went for a quick drive and came home with a MacPro with 4Gb RAM and 750Gb HD. Holy tamole.
I am sooo envious. Even if I do get to play with it, it’s his work machine, not mine. Meanwhile, to try and save some money and space, we’re trying to use a KVM switcher to share the monitor between the new and old machines as they’re unlikely to be used at the same time. This has been a nightmare due to the DVI‑I standard the Mac uses and my addiction to sexy industrial design — I chose the Belkin Flip which says it works with adapters over the more expensive but uglier DVI-native version.
In other news, I found the US TV ad for Kosher frankfurters I just saw extremely bizarre (“Hebrew Franks: We answer to a higher law”) and the ads for depression drugs that give every single side effect in the ad: cool, but weird. Someone asked a while ago for an appraisal of US media. This is a note that it is on the boil, along with something about the lost America that never existed, the America of the beat poets and Kerouac and Jimmy Hendrix at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Meanwhile, have a great clip of Stephen Colbert interviewing Jane Fonda.
