I’ve been watching the Haneef case in Australia of course. Too depressed about it to want to look at it, given that I’m unable to do much about it from here. I may get around to doing a brief summary for those American readers who haven’t been watching and don’t know what a police state Australia is becoming.

Meanwhile, Ingmar Bergman died and so did Rabbi Sherwin T Wine who founded the strand of humanist Judaism my parents followed when I was young (at least, that’s my inference; they were humanist Jews, he founded the movement). Anyway, his partner Richard McMains survived the accident in Morocco, and I can’t help but think again of the influences of intersections of sexuality and ethnicity in creating alternative/sub-altern consciousness. Which reminds me, I’ve just submitted my first paper out of my Masters thesis to a journal after AGMC invited me to…

Yes, I’m meandering and unfocused. I may be coming down with something.
