That cultural festival of yours…

Today is that day when the sup­posedly sec­u­lar coun­try I live in stops shov­ing the major­ity fest­ival down my throat with every pur­chase, inter­ac­tion and encounter. If it *wer­en’t* for the hugely dis­pro­por­tion­ate com­mer­cial response and expec­ted par­ti­cip­a­tion, I’d be equally respect­ful of Christ­mas tra­di­tions as I am of other cul­tural traditions.

So, as in the last few years, I’m post­ing this won­der­ful medley of carols by Straight No Chaser.

To all my friends who *do* cel­eb­rate Christ­mas, I wish you a won­der­ful day. To the rest of you, don’t worry, it’ll be over soon!

Hmmm, seems Warner has removed the ori­ginal from You­Tube so we have to use the MySpace ver­sion… There’s a 2008 ver­sion on You­Tube, but I don’t think it’s quite as good. This one of them rehears­ing for the comeback is hys­ter­ical, though.
