Challenge of the day: text selection. So, I’m looking through the Bent Lens first edition for Australian queer films with a focus on ethnicity or racism… not much there. Lots of documentaries…

Where are the feature films like The Wedding Banquet? Where is our version of “Tongues Untied”? Of course, this edition was published in 1997 and I’ve just found out that the second edition is out. So maybe all the feature films are listed there. I haven’t seen Walking on Water yet, but directed by Tony Ayres and with Vince Colosimo as the talent, I imagine it’s in.

I have no idea where to start my next bit: trying to track down episodes of Australian drama that deal with it. I vaguely remember one ep of GP dealing with some of this, but if any of you lot can think of an episode that dealt with queer/non-Anglo or non-Anglo/disabled or queer/disabled issues, I’m very interested.

Still haven’t found many books outside the queer area either. Saw a great short called “Crip Shots” by queer disabled artists at the Queer Film Festival, but it wasn’t Australian. I remember seeing a great Deaf gay story told on Out on Tuesday, that great Channel 4 production from Britain, too.

Does *anyone* have any leads?

And then I can get onto my other crisis: remembering how exactly does one perform a Deleuzian analysis? Must re-read the cinema stuff he wrote…

Ah well, at least it’s something other than the damned war.
