Didn’t find wireless access but did find a nice community net space that was happy to plug Inanna (the laptop… the old one was Enki) into their LAN. Nice people. So, uploaded some pics for y’all.

Gaudi pic for frou_frou

Amazing fountains in Barcelona that I didn’t see last time I was there

The goths at the Pride March

and finally

The turtles for faemortel

There are of course hundreds more photos, often of funky chocolate places for my Dad, but these were the important ones for now.

Oh, and hawk_eye? I have no idea how we managed to miss going to the Circo Romano last time we were in Toledo. Were you not in your mad Roman phase yet? It’s just outside the town walls…

Met more nice people last night. For a town of 70,000, Toledo has its fair share of pierced and interesting folk, happy to chat to strange Australians wearing “Good girls need spanking too” on their T‑shirts. I think I finally have the translation of that down pat. At least when I tried to explain it to the security guy at the Cathedral when I was asking about what time the big Bishop guy is making his grand entrance to the main gates tomorrow in full pomp on his return from Rome, he laughed and said something which I’m pretty sure was “Well, if you want me to spank you, I’d be very happy to.” I politely declined. I also politely declined the offer from the 75 year-old in the bar who said that I could come and stay with him for free for the whole five weeks if I wanted to. Of course, he only had one bed…

Funny how travelling has made me use this thing more as a diary… in Melbourne I was very reluctant to put up daily happenings… probably because they involved the people reading them… Will muse more on the nature of privacy at a later date. There’s also a post on faith versus reason that will be on its way for the delectation of the_christian.

Oh, and what *is* it with Crowded House? I heard it on French radio in the mid-eighties when I was a teenager, I heard it in Barcelona, I hear it here. At least everyone I talk to says: Oh you’re Australian? Nick Cave is ace, isn’t he?

Anyhow, off to read my fabulous new book, _Dead Air_ by Iain Banks. Yay for little hidden Toledan shops that sell books in English.
