So, I’m keep­ing up with the ongo­ing débâcle via The New York Times’ fairly nice cov­er­age of the US elec­tion (wish it updated auto­mat­ic­ally though…) and it looks scary right now.

I am fas­cin­ated at the mes­sage on the front of LJ right now though, partly for its US-cent­ric lan­guage (they haven’t said ‘If you’re a US cit­izen…’ and the coördinators of this space *must*, of all people, know how many LJ users are non-US… but I under­stand their focus right now… the US flag does kinda cover it…) but more import­antly for the 5000 responses. I’m begin­ning to agree a little with Brandon, who noted that the one bene­fit of right-wing puslick­ers in power is that they mobil­ise debate and res­ist­ance in a way that socially-aware-but-still-cap­it­al­ist sops do not.
