The students in my Digital Media class are currently sending me last-minute topic confirmations for their final essay. They have to pick a digital media market segment and analyse its potential for publishing, with a close analysis of a case study. My fairly pedestrian suggestions of segments included broadband, dvd, mobile phones and gave them room to pick their own. I’m very pleased and interested in where they’re thinking. A number of them want to do video games, of course, but with some interesting twists: video game & movie tie-ins and video games as propaganda; and one of them is doing podcasting.
